Computer-Less Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

At Truworth, we had closely observed the US EMR market for several years owing to our RCM expertise. We realized that one of the major reasons for low adoption of EMR in the US market was the expectation from Doctors to type on a computer. Doctors being busy people and not very techno-savvy, especially the older and more established ones, were least comfortable typing on a computer to create EMRs.
When we started designing an EMR for the Indian market, we saw that the problem was more profound in the Indian market due to even lower IT penetration in the Indian doctors’ community. We felt the need to bridge this technology gap to allow doctors to use technology as a tool rather than see it as a hindrance in achievement of the ultimate objective of Electronic Medical Records. With this in mind our IT team used ink recognition technology as the platform and came up with RxNotes.
RxNotes allows doctors to use a Digital Writing Pad and any paper of their choice to create prescriptions or medical records. Whatever they write gets recorded in the pad as digital ink and is then transferred to the patients’ medical history to create handwritten EMR. Going one step further, we provided the facility to index these files to create true electronic medical records. This indexing can be done by the doctor’s staff or by Truworth as an outsourced service.
Now, we are seeing a tremendous demand for this product from even the US market. Keeping this in mind, Truworth is currently working towards customizing its EMR offering for the US market and CCHIT certifications.
